EDMONDS — The Edmonds Police Foundation donated more than $12,000 to the city this week for a memorial at Haines Wharf Park.
The memorial will celebrate the life of former Edmonds Police Chief David N. Stern, officials said. Stern served
as chief for six years until he died in 2007 from a brain aneurysm. He also served in the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs, the Greater Edmonds Chamber of Commerce and the Noontime Rotary Club of Edmonds.
The money was donated by Stern’s friends, coworkers and the community.
An official ceremony is planned for the memorial outlook in the spring. The memorial will be located near 76th Avenue W. and 75th Place W. in Edmonds.
