EDMONDS — A robber who implied he had a weapon under his clothes robbed a U.S. Bank branch Thursday.
A witness noted the license plate of the vehicle in which the robber fled, and police later found it at the registered owner’s Seattle address, but the robber wasn’t there, Edmonds police Sgt. Jeffrey Jones said.
The robbery occurred shortly before 1 p.m. in the 100 block of Fourth Avenue S.
A man entered the bank, implied he had a weapon and demanded money, Jones said. He took the money and fled, running north on Fourth toward Main Street.
The robber was described as in his 20s, wearing a black baseball cap and a black sweat shirt. The witness saw a man matching the robber’s description running north on Fourth and watched as he removed a black hat and black sweat shirt, then got into a vehicle and left.

Boy reports kidnap threat: Two men in a red pickup truck drove up to an 8-year-old Everett boy riding his bike Thursday evening and allegedly threatened to kidnap him.
The boy immediately dropped his bike and ran home, said Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Jan Jorgensen. When he looked back, he saw the men loading his bike into the truck.
"We feel that maybe they wanted the bike, but we don’t know if it was a bona fide threat," she said.
The boy did "exactly the right thing. He didn’t talk to them. He just dropped the bike and ran," Jorgensen said. The boy made it home safely.
The incident happened at about 6:30 p.m. in the 15400 block of Admiralty Way. Sheriff’s deputies were unable to find the truck. The men were described as having shaved heads and appeared to be in their 20s.
