NORTH BEND — King County rescuers continued the search Wednesday for Edmonds teacher Kimberly Haines.
Haines, described as being in her 40s, was reporting missing after a scheduled hike Sunday at Mount Teneriffe near North Bend. Her family called police when she did not return when expected. Her car was found at the trailhead.
The searchers are using cellphone tracking technology with new data from overnight, according to the King County Sheriff’s Office. The operation involves horses, a helicopter and off-road vehicles.
Haines is an experienced hiker. She teaches at the Maplewood school in the Edmonds School District.
Michelle Mathis, Maplewood’s principal, went to the search site on Wednesday, said Edmonds School District spokeswoman Debbie Joyce Jakala.
“Our hearts across the district are going out to her husband, family, friends and colleagues,” Jakala said.
