Now that WSDOT has finished its attempts at smoothing out the 128th Street roller coaster past McCollum Park, Snohomish County is moving ahead with its improvements to nearby Elgin Way.
The road, just a tenth of a mile in length, is to be fully closed through Sept. 29, or whenever the project is complete. Kamins Construction is building a sidewalk with curb and gutter, retaining walls and storm sewer improvements, as well as doing some paving.
The goal is to make it safer and easier for pedestrians to cross 128th Street from Elgin Way as they access McCollum Park and its popular park and ride facility.
