EVERETT — Trinity Lutheran College’s plan to build a 58-room student dormitory was approved Wednesday by the Everett City Council.
The dorm will rise on the site of a parking lot in the 2600 block of Rockefeller Ave. It is expected to house 125 students.
The dorm project was originally slated for another property in downtown Everett, but the deal to purchase that parcel fell through.
The council’s approval was needed for the new site because the new dorm will not include off-street parking. The college already owns a 350-stall parking garage on California Street, across the street from the main college building at 2802 Wetmore Ave.
The school anticipates breaking ground in July and aims to have the dorm finished and open by August 2016.
