EVERETT — On Wednesday the Everett City Council awarded a contract to Northwest Ambulance for emergency medical transportation services.
The five-year contract, in which the company will pay the city approximately $158,000, was approved unanimously with no comment. The company derives its revenues from billing patients and insurance companies.
The new contract makes Northwest Ambulance the exclusive provider of emergency transport services in the city. Previously the city had four private companies under contract, which responded in rotation with city-owned vehicles.
Northwest Ambulance was the only bidder on the city’s request for proposals.
