EVERETT — A 5-year-old Everett boy was in critical condition Monday night at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after the car he was riding in crashed into truck parked on the shoulder on northbound I-5, emergency officials reported.
The driver, a 45-year-old Camano Island woman was taken to Providence Everett Medical Center’s Colby Campus.
The car she was driving northbound on I-5 about 10:20 a.m. Monday smashed into the back of a parked truck on northbound I-5 just south of 41st Street, said Battalion Chief Dave Rich, of the Everett Fire Department.

The fire was reported about 4:35 p.m. Monday by the homeowner after he returned to the house in the 9900 block of 18th Avenue W. and saw smoke.
The accidental fire that started in the utility room caused about $50,000 worth of damage. The Red Cross was assisting the family, Rich said.
