EVERETT — The Everett City Council could join Edmonds, Snohomish County and other governments and organizations that acknowledge Native American stewardship of and existence on the land they occupy.
The council is scheduled to vote Wednesday on a land acknowledgement recognizing the historic role the sduhubš people, Anglicized as Snohomish, had in what is now Everett.
Edmonds is believed to be the first city council in the state to adopt such a statement in 2019. Other governments and organizations have since followed.
