EVERETT — Better get down to the library and stock up on books.
The Everett Public Library’s main branch downtown is scheduled to be closed for up to two weeks beginning Monday.
During that time, workers will install new carpeting and paint.
While patrons may not check out books during the closure, they can pick up items placed on hold or return materials at the coffee shop located at the main branch.
Library staff are scheduled to be on hand at the coffee shop Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the closure.
The Evergreen branch of the library also will be open during this time. It’s located at 9512 Evergreen Way.
The main library is scheduled to reopen on Monday, Nov. 7 — although that date could change depending on the pace of the work.
The carpeting and related maintenance upgrades for the entire main floor of the library cost around $100,000.
If you do manage to get over to the main branch this weekend, step into the children’s section, which now has new colorful carpet, paint and a new arrangement of book shelves.
Construction of a new teen center nearby is also moving along.
Library staff plan to unveil all the new changes at special events after the work is completed.
