ARLINGTON — An Everett man was booked into the Snohomish County Jail on Wednesday for investigation of kidnapping, robbery, stealing a pickup and possessing stolen property after a confrontation in woods near Arlington.
The suspect, 21, is accused of pointing a gun at two people and trying to get gas from them near the 16000 block of Highway 530.
The man told the pair that the truck he had been driving was stuck in the mud and had run out of gas, according to court papers.
He allegedly ordered them to drive their truck to where his truck was stuck. But he couldn’t siphon enough gas to get his truck going.
The victims’ truck then also got stuck in the mud.
The man allegedly ordered one of the two people, a woman, to go with him to a road to get gas and ordered her friend to stay with the truck. She was able to get away and use her cellphone to call for help.
Deputies found a handgun in some brush near where the suspect was first met by law enforcement officers.
The man told detectives he had been smoking methamphetamine.
