EVERETT — An Everett man, 19, was arrested Thursday after he reportedly raced away from police officers in a stolen Corvette.
An Everett police officer was patrolling south Everett when he spotted a stolen silver 2004 Chevrolet Corvette about 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
The car had been taken recently in connection with a burglary in Lake Stevens, according to a police affidavit filed in Snohomish County Superior Court. The officer got behind the Corvette near the Everett Mall and called for backup.
The Corvette soon took off, and the officer followed, but he called off the pursuit when traffic conditions along Casino Road made it too dangerous to continue, according to the affidavit. From his car, he heard other officers on the radio spot the Corvette as it wound through town.
A short time later, the Corvette’s driver pulled off into a pasture along Lowell-Snohomish River Road. He ran from the car.
The man was arrested within minutes. He was booked into Snohomish County Jail for investigation of attempting to elude police and possessing a stolen vehicle. He’s also under investigation in Lake Stevens for burglary, stealing firearms and possessing stolen firearms.
