EVERETT — Police are searching for a man who reportedly broke into an Everett apartment early Sunday and attacked a man who was sleeping on a couch.
The 40-year-old Everett man who was attacked was treated and released from a hospital, Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said.
The incident happened about 3:40 a.m. Sunday in the 12400 block of Admiralty Way. Detectives believe a man entered the apartment through a window and then attacked the 40-year-old man with a knife, Hover said.
The intruder ran away when the 40-year-old man’s wife and two teenage daughters heard the commotion and came out of their rooms to investigate, Hover said.
Nothing was reported stolen, and the motive of the attack is unknown, Hover said. Police don’t believe the 40-year-old man knows his attacker.
The reported intruder is described as thin, about 20 years old and nearly 6 feet tall. He had short brown hair and was wearing blue jeans.
Sheriff’s deputies used police dogs to search the area but couldn’t find the man. A witness told police the man may have escaped or hidden in a red truck a few blocks away. He may have been bleeding from injuries, Hover said.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the sheriff’s office tip line at 425-388-3845.
