SNOHOMISH — A skydiver killed Friday after his parachute collapsed has been identified as an Everett man.
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office said Zackary W. Smathers died of blunt-force trauma in the accident at 9900 Airport Way in Snohomish.
Smathers, 28, attempted an “aggressive turn” and his parachute apparently collapsed into itself at about 6:30 p.m. Friday, the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office reported. Because of that, he couldn’t land propertly.
Smathers was part of a group of nine skydivers who had jumped from 13,000 feet.
