A man wanted on a federal warrant for murder in Virginia has been arrested at his home east of Everett.
Eric Lamar Douglas, 28, waived extradition during a court appearance Tuesday in Snohomish County Superior Court. He should be en route to Virginia within two weeks, Superior Court Judge George Bowden said.
FBI agents, assisted by Snohomish County deputies, arrested Douglas on Monday on a federal warrant charging unlawful flight to avoid prosecution, FBI spokesman Ray Lauer said.
Douglas was being sought on charges of first-degree murder and unlawful use of a firearm in connection with a 1997 slaying in Norfolk.
He was arrested in the 400 block of 101st Avenue SE in the Lake Stevens area, where he had been living with another person who was unaware of the murder allegation, Lauer said.
"He’s been living very quietly for the last four years," Lauer said.
Douglas was wanted in the shooting death of Kenneth Lamont Boone, 24, on Sept. 12, 1997, in Norfolk.
Police responded to call of a gunshot victim and found Boone unresponsive, Norfolk police spokesman Chris Amos said Wednesday. Investigators developed Douglas as a suspect, but they were unable to find him.
Police say there was an altercation between Boone and Douglas, but the motive remains unclear, Amos said.
Douglas’ girlfriend, who declined to identify herself, said news of the Virginia charge left her in shock. Douglas was a father figure to her children, she said.
"He was the most caring person there is," she said. "He was the most loyal — the best dad."
