EVERETT – Everett police said the man found dead outside of a W. Casino Road apartment Thursday was a victim of homicide.
The Snohomish County medical examiner identified the man as George J. Burns, 31, of Everett.
Police say he apparently was shot outside his second-story apartment sometime before 7 p.m. in the 600 block of W. Casino Road, Everett police Sgt. Robert Goetz said.
There are no suspects in the case and no arrests have been made, Goetz said. Police continue to investigate the death.
Police report that witnesses heard what sounded like fireworks earlier the day Burns was found, Goetz said. No one called 911, however.
People also reported seeing a woman leaving the area around the time of the fireworks noise. Police have interviewed the woman and she may be involved in the case, he said.
Someone initially called 911 to report that there was an unconscious man outside the Casino Road four-plex.
Officers later determined that Burns had died, Goetz said.
Homicide detectives were called to the scene and are investigating the man’s death.
