Eight weekend lane closures on I-5 between Everett and Marysville are about to start but have been pushed back a week due to forecast rain. Now, the first scheduled for the southbound direction from 9:30 p.m. Friday, March 4, to 4 a.m. Monday, March 7.
State contractors are replacing expansion joints in the northbound and southbound lanes for bridges over the Ebey and Steamboat sloughs.
While the work is underway, a weekend drive could feel like a weekday commute. The Washington State Department of Transportation is dubbing it #SnoCoSqueeze in social media.
Here is a video WSDOT put together about the work, and head to Noah Haglund’s latest story for further details.
This story has been modified to reflect the new scheduled start date.
