U.S. Navy Senior Chief Hospital Corpsman Joe Paterniti — a 1983 graduate of Bothell High School who now lives in Everett and serves as a paramedic firefighter — is among the more than 250 seriously wounded, ill and injured service members and veterans competing at the 2018 Department of Defense Warrior Games, which started June 1 and conclude June 9 at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Paterniti is competing in field, cycling, powerlifting, and rowing. Paterniti, a hospital corpsman, was selected for team Navy after the competitive Wounded Warrior Trials in February at Naval Station Mayport, Florida.
