City crews are working round the clock to clear roads, public works director Dave Davis told the City Council Wednesday night.
Crews have been on snow shifts since Saturday, which means workers rotate on 12-hour shifts. The city has seven sanders and plows and they are continually running that machinery over roads in the city, he said. Even though the trucks are going over many roads more than once, it’s hard to keep up with the snowfall, he said.
Once temperatures warm, the city will shift its focus to making sure drains are open and roadways are clear of any fallen trees, limbs and the like.
As a side note, you might be wondering why Everett’s City Council is meeting when just about every other public entity seems to be shutdown. The city charter dictates the council must meet as scheduled.
