EVERETT — The city expects to present new police Chief Kathy Atwood with her chief’s badge this afternoon.
A ceremony is scheduled for 2 p.m. today in the City Council Chambers at 3002 Wetmore Ave., officials said.
The ceremony can be seen live on the Everett Channel, available on Comcast channel 21 and Frontier channel 29.
Atwood, 50, of Everett, has been rising through the ranks of the Everett Police Department since 1989.
She officially became chief July 1 but took over daily operations earlier this year.
Former Chief Jim Scharf delayed his retirement until after the internal investigation into a fatal shooting by officer Troy Meade. Meade was fired late last month.
