EVERETT – The Everett Police Department has restocked and has steering wheel locking devices available to the public.
The department sold out early in October and has since ordered about 300 more locks.
The Club is available for $10.83 – about a third of the normal retail price – to all Everett residents.
Auto theft in Snohomish County has been on the rise, and Everett has the third-highest theft rate in the state.
The device locks the steering wheel and prevents it from moving. It isn’t 100 percent effective, but it’s an inexpensive deterrent, crime prevention officer Steve Paxton said.
Most car thieves look for the easy target. A steering wheel device can make a quick getaway impossible.
The Club is available at the south precinct, 1121 SE Everett Mall Way. Payment is by check only. For more information, call 425-257-7521.
