EVERETT — One of three candidates in the race to succeed Everett School Board member Ed Petersen has pulled out.
Mary Ann Elbert withdrew Monday, leaving Ted Wenta and Rodman Reynolds to compete for the job. Petersen did not file for re-election.
Candidates had until 5 p.m. Monday to withdraw otherwise their names would appear on the Aug. 6 primary ballot. The general election is Nov. 5.
Meanwhile, no one signed up to run for eight offices during last week’s candidate filing period. As a result, the Snohomish County Auditor’s Office will conduct a special three-day filing period for those offices Aug. 7-9. Those who sign up will compete only in the general election in a winner-take-all race.
The offices lacking candidates are the mayor and one seat on the Gold Bar City Council; two seats on the Index Town Council and one seat apiece on the Index School District board, East County Parks and Recreation Commission, and Snohomish County Fire Protection Districts 25 and 27.
