EVERETT — Three Everett schools were placed in a short lockdown Tuesday afternoon because of nearby police activity.
A message about the lockdown was sent out to parents around 2:30 p.m., Everett Public Schools spokeswoman Mary Waggoner said.
Just after 1 p.m., Everett police asked that Emerson Elementary School, Evergreen Middle School and Cascade High School go into lockdown, Waggoner said.
Police were apprehending a suspect at a nearby Fred Meyer store. They had someone in custody within about 10 minutes, and the lockdown was lifted, Waggoner said.
The man was never on school grounds, according to the school district’s memo to parents.
