Whittier Elementary School in Everett will have its second annual rummage and bake sale from 9 a.m.to 4 p.m. Saturday at 916 Oakes Ave.

A fashion show for the modest

Clean your carpet, help the hungry
Dirt Busters Cleaning Services has set a goal of raising $5,000 by June 30 to support the hunger relief efforts of Food Lifeline.
The company will offer 100 square feet of carpet cleaning to every homeowner in its service area who donates at least $25 to Food Lifeline, which supports Second Harvest food banks throughout the region.

VFW, auxiliary gather goods for the troops
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1040 and its Ladies Auxiliary are collecting items through Sunday to send to U.S. troops overseas.
The groups are seeking hard candy, baby wipes, suntan lotion, hand lotion, toothpaste, toothbrushes, playing cards, writing paper, pens, crossword puzzles, gum and letters of support for soldiers.
They also are collecting items for the USO at McChord Air Force Base.
Items may be dropped off at Lynnwood Fire Station 15, 18818 44th Ave. W., until 1 p.m. Sunday. A packing rally will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. that day.
