EVERETT — The city of Everett has approved a settlement with Jonathan Bander over access to public records. Bander sued the city last month after staff at the Everett Animal Shelter wouldn’t give him a record of a dog in the shelter that he believed was his missing pet, Hyde. (It wasn’t.)
The city previously admitted that it should have given Bander the record, also called a kennel card. The city also agreed to give shelter staff a refresher course in public records requests.
The settlement, approved by the City Council on Wednesday, will pay Bander $2,250 to cover his legal costs.
