Everett woman, 32, suspected of prostitution

EVERETT – A woman suspected of running an escort service out of her south Everett apartment was arrested Tuesday after she allegedly tried to solicit an undercover Snohomish County sheriff’s deputy.

The woman, 32, was arrested on suspicion of prostitution and running an unlicensed massage parlor, sheriff’s spokeswoman Jan Jorgensen said Wednesday.

The sheriff’s office began its investigation after a dissatisfied customer reported the woman, Jorgensen said. Detectives learned she was working out of an apartment in the 12400 block of Admiralty Way.

Officials also found that the woman allegedly had a Web site advertising an escort service, and an advertisement in a Seattle newspaper promoting a massage parlor, Jorgensen said.

The woman was booked into the county jail.

Everett: Dead base jumper is Seattle man

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the body of a man Wednesday who fell 1,000 feet off Mount Baring when his parachute failed to open.

The jumper was identified as Jeff Barker, 32, of Seattle.

A crew aboard a Snohomish County sheriff’s helicopter located his body Tuesday morning on a ledge on the north face of the mountain at an elevation of about 4,400 feet, sheriff’s spokeswoman Jan Jorgensen said.

The accident happened about 8:25 p.m. Monday. The man was with three other jumpers. One successfully jumped from the face of the mountain. Barker, the second to jump, apparently fell on a ledge when his parachute didn’t open, Jorgensen said. A third jumper spotted his body on the jump down.

Tulalip: Trailer burns up at camping club

A fire destroyed a trailer at Port Susan Camping Club on Wednesday.

The fire was reported about 2:20 a.m. in the 12000 block of Marine Drive after one resident awoke and saw smoke and flames coming from the porch, Snohomish County assistant fire marshal Bruce Pulver said.

The woman was able to wake up her daughter and son in-law. They all escaped without injury.

Firefighters arrived to find the residents trying to put out the blaze with a garden hose, Pulver said.

Flexible tube lighting left on overnight likely caused the fire, he said. Pulver warned residents to turn off outdoor lighting overnight. Damage was estimated at $75,000.

Lynnwood: Not so far in allegedly stolen car

Three teenagers who allegedly stole a vehicle from the Heritage Ridge apartments Wednesday didn’t get far.

Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies stopped the three before they left the apartment complex.

The driver reportedly rammed the gate in an attempt to escape, but that didn’t work, sheriff’s spokeswoman Jan Jorgensen said.

The male driver allegedly ran from the vehicle but was quickly apprehended, Jorgensen said. One male passenger also was arrested. A third passenger is a suspect in two vehicle prowls, but was not detained.

The three also are suspects in the theft of a car from Mukilteo, which was found at another apartment complex, Jorgensen said.

Edmonds: Suspected groper sketch released

The man was described as white, 35 to 40 years old, 6 feet tall and of medium build. He has short sandy-colored hair and brown eyes, and he wore glasses with wire frames and oval lenses. He has no facial hair.

The man fled after the real estate agent, 49, of Shoreline, screamed, Edmonds Police Sgt. Jeff Jones said.
