EVERETT — Former Maytag repairman and presidential hopeful Keith Sprankle will get a chance to deliver his message to a few million people today.
The 48-year-old Everett man who is seeking the Republican presidential nomination is set to be a guest on the nationally syndicated, Seattle-based Michael Medved Show today from 2 to 3 p.m.
The three-hour daily conservative radio show airs on 200 stations from coast-to-coast and is carried live locally by its flagship station KTTH, 770 AM.
“It gives me a chance to get a good clear message out,” Sprankle said Monday.
Sprankle, who has no political experience and describes himself as an average joe, said he plans to use exposure on the show to share his ideas on energy production, health care and rising food costs.
Central to his campaign is a market-based universal health care plan.
Sprankle, who has multiple sclerosis, said he has spent the past year researching and writing a 600-page health care plan aimed at lowering the cost of medical treatment and prescription drugs.
On today’s radio show, Sprankle will appear alongside two other lesser-known candidates making a bid for the White House in 2008.
Sprankle, a native of Chicago who grew up in Fremont, Calif., said he hopes to get his name on the ballot in California, New York and several other states that will hold early primary elections on Feb. 5, known commonly as “Super Tuesday.”
Sprankle said he will also tell listeners that he would like to choose former speaker of the House Newt Gingrich as his running mate. He said this would be his first time reaching out to Gingrich.
Medved’s show reaches about 1.9 million listeners in 124 radio markets around the country, according to the KTTH Web site.
