Freezing temperatures overnight have created treacherous road conditions for Tuesday’s morning commute.
Officials warned drivers to use extreme caution when taking to the roads.
The freeways appears bare and wet, however icy spots may exist. The side streets continue to be covered with a messy combination of compact snow and ice.
Conditions likely will deteriorate further with more snow forecast for late tonight.
The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a winter storm watch for Western Washington, including the lowlands of Snohomish County.
As much as six inches of fresh snow could accumulate, forecasters said. The storm likely will turn to rain Wednesday afternoon.
“But there is plenty of uncertainty surrounding the timing of this transition, if it even occurs at all,” the weather service’s statement said.
