LAKE STEVENS – Police closed a downtown street for more than three hours Wednesday after a Ford Bronco driver allegedly told officers he hoped the car “would blow up.”
The driver, who had a felony drug warrant out for his arrest, was stopped by police about 3:30 p.m., Lake Stevens Police Chief Randy Celori said.
Police shut down 20th Street NE between Main Street and 125th Avenue NE while a hazardous materials response team and the Snohomish Regional Drug Task Force searched the car, Celori said.
No explosives were found, but police did discover cocaine-related items. Officers reopened 20th Street shortly after 6:30 p.m.
The driver was booked into Snohomish County Jail.
