Loose watering cans bouncing around your yard? Thank goodness you’re not in Alaska, where a monster storm is expected to form in the Gulf of Alaska later this week, according to Rufus LaLone, a Northwest forecaster who gets it right.
Rufus says: “NWS staff in Alaska have provided this term, ‘EXPLOSIVE CYCLOGENESIS,’ to describe the potent storm formation, as Siberian air and subtropical air collide. … this system will spin off a few surface fronts that will pass over the PNW sometime Thur or Fri. MODERATE RAINFALL expected for our area as a result. Breezy.”
Check out his full forecast here. I keep his weather cafe bookmarked so I can keep an eye out for potential frosts or other weather events that might wipe out tender plants or turn my loose watering cans into projectiles.
