LAKE STEVENS — Someone vandalized the front of the Boys &Girls Club on Lakeshore Drive with used motor oil.
Staff members discovered the mess early Thursday morning. The vandalism appears to have happened overnight.
“It was someone throwing motor oil on the front door and door knobs and front walkway,” said Mike Neumeister, area director with the Boys &Girls Clubs of Snohomish County.
The Lake Stevens club serves about 2,000 children and teens. The organization is in the middle of a campaign to raise $500,000 for a new teen center that would be built onto the existing building.
The fundraising and the club have received a lot of support, Neumeister said. He was surprised to hear about the vandalism.
“It took some time to clean it up and pressure wash everything,” he said. “But everything’s fine now.”
The staff doesn’t know who is behind the vandalism. Police were called about the incident and the school resource officer will follow up, Police Chief Dan Lorentzen said.
