LAKE STEVENS — Police are expected to conduct extra DUI patrols Friday and Saturday, focusing on Lake Stevens, where Aquafest will be under way.
The patrols will run from 7 p.m. Friday into 3 a.m. Saturday. Officers from the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, Washington State Patrol, Monroe and Arlington will be doing “high visibility patrols” throughout the county.
The State Patrol’s impaired driving unit, a retrofitted 36-foot motor home, will be on hand to quickly process impaired drivers, according to the Snohomish County DUI and Target Zero Task Force.
Target Zero is the Washington State Traffic Safety Commission’s plan to eliminate traffic related deaths and serious injuries by 2030. More information can be found at www.targetzero.com.
