SPOKANE — A partner in Tim Eyman’s initiative campaigns, Mike Fagan, has apparently lost a bid for a seat on the Spokane City Council. The Spokesman-Review reports he’s losing Tuesday’s race for an open seat to Amber Waldref.
The Spokesman-Review also reports five candidates promising “positive change” have swept into power in Spokane Valley.
Yakima voters have approved the renewal of a public safety sales tax. The Yakima Herald-Republic reports the tax funds more than 100 law enforcement and justice staff workers.
But, a sales tax increase to help pay for a new police station in Pasco and jail expansion appears to be failing. Franklin County Sheriff Richard Lathim told The Tri-City Herald there’s a chance that remaining mail-in ballots might change the outcome.
