Deer Creek is a major tributary to the north fork of the Stillaguamish River, joining it at the community of Oso east of Arlington. Some creek facts:
Deer Creek is 24 miles long.
It has 23 smaller tributaries, including Higgins, DeForest, Little Deer and Rick creeks, for a total of an additional 56 miles.
The watershed includes about 67 square miles northeast of Oso, most of it in Skagit County.
The watershed is characterized by glaciated valleys separated by sharp ridges and has elevations rising from 200 feet at Oso to 4,900 feet.
The area receives an annual rainfall of about 75 inches in the lower part of the watershed to 110 inches in the higher elevations.
