Women for Women fundraiser: Advocates for Women of Edmonds Unitarian Universalist Church will host a dinner 5-7 p.m. Sunday to benefit Women for Women International. Dinner will feature dishes from Iran, Afghanistan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Kosovo, where the organization works with war survivors. For information, email: a4w.rsvp@euuc.org.

Buddhist center open house: Chagdud Gonpa Amrita, a Buddhist center in Edmonds, will host a free open house, to welcome Year of the Water Dragon, 1-4 p.m. Sunday at 9653 Firdale Ave., Edmonds, on second floor. 206-546-8095.

Benefit for family: A fundraiser to help pay medical expenses for Dean Schoknecht is scheduled noon-3 p.m. Sunday at Zion Lutheran Church’s Parish Hall, 330 Union Ave., Snohomish. There will be music and a menu of ham, meatless lasagna, vegetables and strawberry shortcake. Suggested donation $10 per person, $25 per family. Schoknecht was injured in a fall from a horse. Adult Purim Karaoke Night fundraiser: 6:30-9:30 p.m. March 17, Weyerhaeuser Room, Everett Station, 3201 Smith Ave. The party is for members and friends of Everett’s Temple Beth Or. The Jewish Festival of Purim celebrates the Book of Esther, in which Jews are saved by Queen Esther and her wise Uncle Mordechai versus the evil Haman. The festival celebrates survival and joy. Costumes encouraged.

Christian Science talk: Chet Manchester, a Christian Science healer, will speak on the topic “Let Love Lead: find your path in life and work” 2 to 3 p.m. today at First Church of Christ Scientist, 1718 Broadway, Everett. Talk will include perspective on Mary Baker Eddy’s book “Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.” All are welcome.

African Children’s Choir: will perform a free concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Snohomish High School PAC, 1316 Fifth St., Snohomish. Donations help children in Uganda, Kenya, South Africa, Sudan, Rwanda, Nigeria and Ghana.

Concert to help orphans: A Concert for the Value of Human Life: Remembering Six Million Ophans in Ethiopia will be 4 p.m. March 17 at Mountain View Community Church, 12033 Seattle Hill Road, Snohomish. Featured will be Sonus Boreal, a women’s choir, Reflections School of Dance, stories of an orphan and poetry. Free, but offering will be taken for Youth With a Mission to buy food and baby formula for an orphanage in Ethiopia.

Disaster readiness: B-Ready North County is scheduled 9 a.m.-1 p.m. March 17 at Jake’s House Prayer and Worship Center, 18824 Smokey Pt. Blvd., Arlington. Michael Lienau, Pat Hamman and Shahram Hadian will talk about preparing for disasters as well as church partnerships for regional response. Event free, but free-will offering will be taken. Auditorium dedication: Marysville’s 92nd Street Church of Christ will dedicate its new auditorium building on March 18. Dedication Sunday begins with 9:30 a.m. March 18 with Bible study, followed by morning worship at 10:30 a.m. A catered dinner will follow the service. Snohomish County Prayer Breakfast: Annual Good Friday breakfast sponsored by the YMCA of Snohomish County is scheduled for 6:45-8:30 a.m. April 6 in the Edward D. Hansen Conference Center at Everett’s Comcast Arena, 2000 Hewitt Ave. Keynote speaker will be Earl Palmer, a minister for 50 years who served most recently at the National Presbyterian Church in Washington, D.C. Auction for mission trips: Marysville United Methodist Church will hold its annual auction 6-9 p.m. April 13 to help pay for junior high youth group’s Learning and Serving Together mission trip to Oregon in June. Living Interfaith: Two services are planned for March at Living Interfaith Church, which meets at 11 a.m. alternate Sundays in the Alderwood Middle School cafeteria, 20000 28th Ave. W., Lynnwood. Sunday’s theme is “Spiritual Pitfalls of the Messala Complex,” the idea is that there are only two alternatives, the polarization affecting politics, religion and relationships. March 25 theme is “But Do we Dance?” and will explore the difference between rushing through life and fully living. Noon potluck follows services.

Lenten series: “Feasting on the Word,” a Lenten series, will be at Everett’s First Presbyterian Church at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays through April 4. A simple meal at 6:30 p.m. in Westminster Hall will be followed by teaching, worship and prayer ending at 8 p.m. Church is at 2936 Rockefeller Ave., Everett.
