SEATTLE — The families of two Seattle teens missing since the Nepal earthquake planned to hold a candlelight vigil on Friday.
Bailey Meola and Sydney Schumacher, both 19, were trekking in the Lahbtang Valley in Nepal when the deadly earthquake struck on April 25.
They had been traveling the world after graduating from Seattle’s Garfield High School in 2014. The women have been described by family members as experienced hikers who have been exploring the outdoors since they were toddlers.
The families have raised more than $47,000 on crowdfunding site Indiegogo to help them search for the women and have used some of that money to send family members to Nepal. Their fundraising site promises all remaining dollars will go toward relief efforts in the region.
