Family requests donations to search-and-rescue groups

BRIER — The family of Kirk Reiser, 22, who died in a snow slide on Mount Rainier last week, has asked that donations in his memory be made to any search-and-rescue organization.

Reiser was snowshoeing with a friend near Paradise on Mount Rainier on Dec. 18 when he apparently set off an avalanche and disappeared under the snow. His body was recovered on Dec. 21 after a three-day search.

A private memorial service for Reiser was planned for this weekend.

Donations to Snohomish County Search and Rescue can be mailed to 5506 Old Machias Rd., Snohomish WA 98290. You can reach the organization at 425-388-3328.
