MONROE — A fire that broke out Sunday evening in a two-story wood-frame home caused an estimated $200,000 in damage.
Two adults and a 10-year-old child escaped from house without injuries and phoned in the report of the fire, said LeRoy Schwartz, battalion chief for the Monroe Fire Department.
The fire was reported at 4:48 p.m. in the 24800 block of 147th Street SE near Monroe. Twenty-two firefighters from Monroe, Sultan and Clearview fire departments responded to the blaze.
The fire started in the laundry room and flashed through the downstairs part of the house, he said. The fire was extinguished in 23 minutes. The second floor of the house was damaged by smoke.
None of the 22 firefighters who battled the blaze were injured, Schwartz said.
Two volunteers from the Snohomish County chapter of the American Red Cross provided the family with emergency supplies.
The Snohomish County fire marshall is investigating the cause of the fire.
