EVERETT — For Snohomish County commuters, bus fares are about to get a little cheaper on Sound Transit Express buses.
Starting in July 2020, riders on routes crossing the county line will pay $3.25, a savings of 50 cents.
Youth and ORCA Lift riders will pay $1.50, and fares for senior or disabled pass holders will cost $1 starting in July.
But fares will be rising for those adult riders whose routes do not cross the county line to $3.25, a 50-cent increase.
The new fare structure is an effort by the transit agency to simplify fares, eliminating the higher price for rides that cross the county line.
Note: This story has been updated to note when the fares go into effect.
