PASCO — An investigation has found that a Benton County sheriff’s deputy was justified in fatally shooting a man outside his Pasco home last summer.
The Tri-City Herald said a team of officers from other police agencies investigated the July 9 shooting. It found that the deputy, who is also with the Tri-City Regional SWAT Team, acted properly.
Rick Howard was shot and killed after a four-hour standoff. Authorities say the 49-year-old was intoxicated and fired more than 60 rounds at officers.
The decision was announced Friday.
