MOUNTLAKE TERRACE — A father’s quick action may have saved the life of his 4-year-old son after the boy nearly drowned in a Mountlake Terrace apartment complex swimming pool Wednesday.
Snohomish County Fire District 1 firefighters responded at 4:33 p.m. to a report of an unconscious child in the pool at the Northern Lights Apartments in the 4400 block of 212th St. SW, Fire District spokeswoman Leslie Hynes said.
The boy’s father pulled his son from the water and started CPR. The child regained consciousness by the time firefighters arrived.
“The boy was breathing but still very pale when firefighters arrived,” Hynes said.
Medics took the boy to Stevens Hospital in Edmonds, where he was recuperating late Wednesday.
The boy and his family where visiting friends at the apartment complex when the near-drowning occurred. The father told firefighters he was in the pool watching his son and and older child play on a floating toy just before the incident.
