FEDERAL WAY — Police in Federal Way are urging residents to avoid going out late at night, especially in secluded areas, following the city’s third fatal shooting in a two-day span.
Chief Andy Hwang said the killings are especially alarming because the victims don’t appear to have had any connection to each other, and two of them did not appear to have been involved in any criminal activity. The latest victim, a 30-year-old Tacoma man, was shot while out for a run with his dog Tuesday night.
Hwang and Mayor Jim Ferrell told a news conference Wednesday the city is sparing no resources in solving the crimes and is boosting uniformed patrols.
The victims Monday included a 26-year-old Seattle man who was shot on the porch of an apartment and a 27-year-old Tacoma man who was found dead in a parked vehicle.
