FERNDALE — A Ferndale man has been arrested for an assault on his girlfriend’s 2-year-old son that left the toddler with a fractured leg.
The Bellingham Herald reported that Ty Antonio Garrett was jailed on suspicion of assault on a child Wednesday.
Officers had responded last week to a hospital where the boy was being treated for his injuries after staff reported concerns about bruising on the child’s face.
Police say 23-year-old Garrett admitted to investigators that he had gotten upset while watching the boy and hurt him. He allegedly told police that he grabbed the child by the face before yanking and holding the boy up by the leg.
