MARANA, Ariz. – At least seven people were killed when a tractor-trailer carrying a load of copper collided with a pickup truck on a southern Arizona interstate, authorities said.
Both vehicles burst into flames and were completely incinerated Monday night, said state Department of Public Safety officer Jim Oien.
Oien said all the victims were in the pickup and appeared to have included two adults and several children. Their identification likely “could take weeks,” Oien said.
The driver of the rig, who was uninjured, told authorities he didn’t see the pickup before the collision.
