Fire crews Saturday morning attacked a blaze that scorched an apartment unit.
More than two dozen firefighters responded to a fire in the 8200 block of Lake Ballinger Way just after 11 a.m., Edmonds Fire Department Battalion Chief Steve Allison said.
Smoke and flames were shooting out the front door of one of the units in the building, Allison said. The fire destroyed that unit and damaged four others. Crews evacuated people from next-door units, and nobody was hurt in the fire.
Investigators estimated total damage at about $100,000.
