STEILACOOM — No injuries are reported from a three-alarm fire that burned an abandoned boat house at an old marina at Steilacoom.
Firefighters from four districts with three fire boats battled the fire that broke out about 5 a.m. today. They prevented flames from spreading.
Some nearby neighbors left their homes because of shooting flames and billowing smoke. The fire was controlled about 7 a.m.
The fire shut down the nearby Burlington Northern Santa Fe line, as hoses were run across the tracks. Spokesman Gus Melonas says an engine used its light to help firefighters. Melonas says there was no damage to the tracks, and train service has resumed.
