EPHRATA — A fire that has burned about 1,200 acres of grass and sagebrush in Grant County is 70 percent contained.
The fire is burning off of Highway 26 between Othello and Royal City.
Fire information officer Ron Fryer says fire crews expect full containment of the blaze by late Thursday evening or early Friday morning as long as the weather continues to cooperate.
The fire had been estimated at 1,500 acres, but that estimate was reduced to 1,200 acres on Thursday. About 100 firefighters are on the scene, including a state crew that mobilized Thursday.
