LAKE STEVENS – A fire caused extensive damage to three apartments Wednesday afternoon, firefighters said.
The fire apparently started inside the second unit of a four apartment complex, said Dave Lingenfelter, interim fire chief for Snohomish County Fire District 8 in Lake Stevens.
The fire was reported by a neighbor about 12:42 p.m., Lingenfelter said. No one was home at the apartments.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. The American Red Cross is providing assistance to the residents, he said.
