MARYSVILLE — A fire caused extensive damage to a Marysville home Monday morning.
The fire was reported around 10:30 a.m. in the 6800 block of 69th Place NE.
Original reports were that there was a “Christmas tree on fire,” Marysville Fire District fire marshal Tom Maloney reported in a press release.
Firefighters had the fire under control within five minutes, but damage was estimated at $193,000.
People inside the home were able to get out on their own.
Firefighters used special pet masks to provide oxygen and two cats responded well to the treatment, Maloney said. They were transported to a local veterinary hospital for more treatment.
The Snohomish County Chapter of the American Red Cross is assisting the family.
At the height of the incident more than 22 firefighters battled the blaze, with mutual aid provided by Snohomish County Fire District 22 at Getchell.
The fire was determined to be accidental.
