Lynnwood
Man arrested after shot fired: A man in his mid-30s was arrested Sunday afternoon on suspicion of first-degree assault, two counts of harassment and stalking after a handgun went off at a hotel north of Lynnwood, according to law enforcement reports.
The suspect, believed to be in his mid-30s, was booked into the Snohomish County Jail after an altercation at the hotel in the 12100 block of Highway 99, said Jan Jorgensen, a spokeswoman for the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
The suspect is a former tenant of the inn who had been evicted, Jorgensen said. He is accused of returning to the establishment early Sunday afternoon and demanding money. He also is accused of stalking a female employee.
A security guard for a different company happened to be at the hotel Sunday.
“When it seemed that the former tenant was getting out of control, he pulled out a handgun,” Jorgensen said. “There was a struggle. The handgun fired one shot, but no one was injured.”
Deputies arrived within three minutes and the suspect was arrested.
