EVERETT — An early morning fire destroyed a mobile home in the Silver Lake area south of Everett.
The family who lived in the home, a mother and two children, were away at the time of the fire.
Someone passing by reported the fire just before 2 a.m. in the 12100 block of Nels Peters Road.
By the time firefighters arrived, the double-wide mobile home was engulfed by flames, said Leslie Hynes, spokeswoman for Snohomish County Fire District 1.
Firefighters had the fire under control in about 25 minutes.
A cat and a rabbit died in the fire. The home and all of its contents were obliterated and damage is estimated at more than $75,000. The family has insurance, Hynes said.
Officials haven’t discovered what caused the fire because damage is so extensive.
